Chocolate Chip Cookies RECIPE

My son and husband really enjoyed these.

INGREDIENTS

• 3/4 cup sugar
• 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 cup butter, softened
• 2 large eggs,beaten
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 cups milk chocolate chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS

*Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix sugar, brown sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs in a large bowl by hand. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt. The dough will be very stiff.

*You can even use a Kitchen Aid mixer for this first step. I use the batter attachment and mix on a lower setting. Just be sure that the dough is well mixed before moving on.

*Stir in chocolate chips by hand. You'll need to use a sturdy wooden spoon for this and a bit of muscle. You can add the pecans, or other nuts, at this time if desired. Keep stirring and folding the chocolate chips and nuts into the dough until they are evenly dispersed.

*Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

*Bake 8 to 10 minutes (I leave them in for 15) or until light brown. You may even think that the chocolate chip cookies are underdone, but they will finish cooking through out of the oven. If you leave them in too long, the cookies will be tough or crispy.

Blueberry Cookies RECIPE

My husband's favourite berries are blueberries... So he really loves when I make these. I thought I might post the recipe here. Feel free to make a batch yourself, darlings.

INGREDIENTS

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
1/2 cup milk
1 cup fresh blueberries

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheet.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
In a large bowl, cream butter or margarine with sugar. Beat in eggs and lemon flavoring. Mix in milk and flour mixture alternately in three parts, starting with the milk. Gently mix in blueberries.
Drop batter by tablespoons onto prepared sheets 1 1/2 inches apart.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes.

A Disney Dream is a Wish Your Pen Makes

So, inspired by the new Family Guy episode that had the "Disney Animation" universe... I decided to make a Youtube Video of me... as a Disney character. No, no... Not like my reenactments... As a 'drawn' Disney character. Though I'll be "still frame" animating as I don't have the time to make a smooth animation run. Especially since I'm still new to drawing in Disney style. I've been practicing all week... And have been trying Disney style on and off for a few months now. Here's a sample of how the video will look (Still working on outlines, and I haven't decided what to wear. I'll likely colour it when I finish the frames).

And here's some of the practice Disney style sketches I have been doing this week.

Alice never comes out right. I started trying to learn her a few years ago, but she always comes out wrong. I can never get her to look right. *Frown*

Aladdin doesn't look right either. I can't figure out why...

Ariel came out alright. I have drawn her before, so I was used to her. The Little Mermaid style is actually really easy to draw.

Pinocchio is surprisingly easy, really. More 'cartoonish' styles are better for me than more realistic ones. The mouth is the easiest part.

Peter Pan came out nicely. It took me a while to learn him, but I have drawn him previously, so it wasn't 'brand new'.

Difficult to draw... But Jafar actually came out well, I think...

Captain Hook's design is very similar to Jafar. I never realized this before trying to draw him...

Ursela is another one I drew previously, so it wasn't as difficult this time around. She came out nicely. But she's actually not difficult to draw.

Peach Cookies RECIPE

This recipe will definitely get your hands dirty. At least it does for me. I'm not great at working with peaches, apparently. However, I think they turn out pretty well. I made them for my husband because he was playing a game that healed his characters with "Peach Cookies". Every time he used one he said that it made him hungry for cookies. So I made him a batch of Peach cookies to eat while playing his game. So every time his character ate one, he could enjoy one as well. He says they are now one of his favourite kinds of cookies.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. ginger
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
3 med. fresh peaches

FROSTING:

1 tbsp. butter
Juice of peach
Small amount of pulp from peach
10 X sugar

DIRECTIONS
*Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg.
*In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda and seasoning.
*Stir flour mixture into egg mixture a little at a time.
*Peel, pit and finely dice peaches; stir into cookie mixture.
*Drop dough by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheet.
*Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until cookies are browned.
*Remove from over and glaze with frosting.

Banana Bread RECIPE

I've decided to start putting the recipes I use often here. It will makes things easier for me, as well as be a way of sharing in delicious foods with all of my reads (Though be they scarce at best).

Here is my recipe for banana bread. I've made it so very many times. It always comes out perfect and everyone loves it.

PREP TIME: 15 Min
COOK TIME: 60 Min
READY IN: 1hr 15 Min
SERVINGS: 14

INGREDIENTS

* 2 cups plain flour
* 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
* pinch of salt
* 2 eggs (beaten)
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 2 cups of mashed overripe banana
* 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional for topping)
* 1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional for topping)

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease and flour a loaf pan.

2. Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, vanilla, yoghurt and the mashed bananas and mix well.

3. Slowly stir in the flour, adding a little at a time. Then mix in the baking soda and salt, mixing thoroughly.

4. Pour the mixture into your prepared loaf pan. If the mixture is too stiff to pour you may want to add a little more yoghurt and mix well until you reach the desired consistency. Only mix in a little yoghurt at a time to avoid making the mixture too runny.

5. (Optional) Sprinkle top of loaf with cinnamon and sugar.

6. Bake in the center of the oven at 350F for around 60 minutes. Oven times may vary, so check to see if the loaf is ready by inserting a knife or toothpick into the center of the loaf. It should come out completely clean when ready.

7. Allow to cool in the loaf pan for 10 minutes before placing on a wire rack to cool fully.

I decided to film my scribble yesterday... It's nothing special... Just completely disproportioned Wonderland characters. The Hatter and Alice... I actually ended up drawing some other scribbles after this. I'll go ahead and show those as well, below the cut.

Here are the other scribbles, as well as the one in the video.

Alice & the mad hatter. Alice is less than happy about meeting the mad fellow, it seems. He seems alright though. This must be baby hatter, as his clothes are too large?

Next is the hatter meeting the unicorn and the Jabberwocky. The Unicorn from "The Lion & The Unicorn" in the looking glass is an original interpretation of the character. I made her over a year ago and keep wanting to draw her... So far this scribble is the only attempt I have. She runs into the Tulgey Wood, while being chased by the lion. She had been defeated and in upon doing so, her horn had broken and she has but a small piece left upon her head. She found a Jabberwocky egg that had been abandon and took it in. They are quite good friends as the Jabberwocky ages with her. At some point she sees the hatter and becomes intrigued with him. So this is a silly made up "first meeting" where she is explaining her story... The Jabberwocky is eying the Hatter's tea, and the Hatter is paranoid that the girl is simply after his tea, and will destroy all of his dishes... Badly scribbled, I know. I spent no time on this I was just having fun. Like a child colouring, I suppose.

The hatter and the Unicorn napping under a tree, both dreaming of doing horrible things to Alice. Tying her to a toy train track... I don't think that would have much affect, but still... Neither are the sharpest tacks, you know...

I Feel Like The Mock Turtle

My husband's car was broken into today. They stole the GPS I bought for him, to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. It's most saddening. I've felt stressed, sad and a bit paranoid all day long, because of it. It certainly did not help that my husband brought up the fact that our home address is programmed into the system and they could very well plan to rob us... Though I know it's doubtful they would... It still keeps that spark of 'what if' glowing in the back of my mind.

How Was Disney World? (Finishing up)

I've decided it's too much trouble to type out play by plays that no one reads, so rather than waste my time I shall just post the video and be done with it to sum up day 4. Though I really must say, The fourth day was by far my favourite. We visited the Magic Kingdom.

How was Disney World? (Day 3)

Disney's Hollywood Studios
We got up and went straight to the park. There was some really fantastic scenery. And I loved the giant Mickey's magic hat.

We saw Eeyore and Tigger right away but Dave wouldn't let me stand in line to meet them. Instead we stood outside of The Great Movie Ride. It was a nice ride. But I'm not quite sure it was worth the 30 minute wait.

I wanted to take part in the American Idol experience, but I have terrible stage fright so I thought it would be best not to.

We went to Star Tours because Thomas loves Star Wars. It was an incredibly short ride. We wanted him to do Jedi training and fight Darth Vader, but he didn't want to. So instead we went to get some ice cream. Then we went on the Studio Backlot Tour. It was fun. We saw a lot of fun things. They even got people from the line to participate. I was a little sad since they asked 3 people in front of us and 2 behind us, and skipped our group all together. But it was still an enjoyable experience.

We walked through "One Man's Dream" and saw some really interesting things. It basically went through Walt Disney's career, and all of his accomplishments. Along with how Disney has changed over the years.

We stood in line to meet the Toy Story characters, and took some fun photos.

We passed the Cars characters when we went to look for lunch, but Dave would not let us stop so Thomas could meet them.

Everyone was booked for the entire day... Without reservations it seemed hopeless... Though we did finally find one restaurant that had a short walk in wait time (40 minutes). While we sat in the heat, waiting to be called in, we saw the green army guys from Toy Story. The restaurant was targeted toward a very young audience, and had characters from Playhouse Disney inside. But we were hungry, so we didn't mind. They had live performances by the Little Einsteins and Jojo's Circus.

After we ate we went to watch the parade (Pixar's Block Party Bash). It was a lot of fun and we got to stand right at the curb, so the view was fantastic. Someone even came up and shook Thomas' hand.

After the parade it had begun to drizzle. We walked toward the Tower of Terror because Dave and Thomas had fast passes. I sat and waited under an umbrella. They seemed to have fun. When they came back they were really excited. Thomas said it was boring until the end. Then it was scary and he was shaking when it was over. He had intended to go on the Rock n Roller coaster, but decided to change his mind.

Then we were off to The Magic of Disney Animation. It was fun to watch, and afterwords we got to see art from The Princess and the Frog. Plus there were characters to meet. We had photos with the characters from Up, and I met Mary Poppins and the queen from Snow White.

The Hotel Pool
We went back to the hotel and used the pool. It was getting dark so there weren't too many people using it. The water felt 'so' terribly cold though. And I was feeling very self conscious.

How was Disney World? (Day 2)

Breakfast At The Hotel:
With our Disney World plan we get free meals. We had our breakfast together at the hotel cafeteria. I had a cheese omelet. Thomas had the same. I forget what Dave ate. It was rather good though.

Epcot
We took a bus to Epcot and got there on time for the "Magic Hours". We saw some people shooting some sort of commercial, I believe. I could really tell what was going on, to be honest.

We looked around for a bit and found ourselves going on a ride through time. It was fun, and at the end there were some interesting games that Thomas really enjoyed.

Next stop, 'Innovations'. We walked around a bit, stopped for a few games... Then we went to the recycling area. It was really interesting. You and your team (Family) compete against other teams (Other families) to clean up trash. You cart around a miniature garbage truck and sort recyclables, burn trash, make places for people to live by layering recyclable items and soil together. Then at the end they give you your score.

We grabbed a "fast pass" for 'Mission Space' and headed over to Germany via the ferry. Though before we got there we did pass some neat water play areas.

In Germany we looked around the shops. Dave purchased some chocolate. The items in the stores were terribly expensive. I really wanted a lot of the items, but there was just no way I could afford them.

We headed back to 'Mission Space' and waited for Dave to go to the restroom (Thomas and I). 20 minutes later we were able to go on the ride. No one told me what sort of ride this was... I did 'not' enjoy it! If you're into thrill rides or rides that change in pressure, gravity and what not... You'll enjoy it... As for myself, personally... It's not my idea of fun. Thomas and Dave, however, enjoyed it very much.

I bought an autograph book from one of the shops. We stopped by the Character spot and stood in line for a good 50 minutes or so. There I was able to meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald & Goofy in one place. It certainly beats standing in individual lines for each character. I wasn't able to meet Daisy (Who we saw earlier) because Dave wanted to do other things. We all got a photo with Goofy, but no one else wanted photos with the other characters. Spoil sports...

Back to the 'around the world' tour... We went to Canada, Britain, France... It was all good fun. I got to meet Belle after we stopped for some crepes (I had strawberry). There was a very short line because most of the children do not recognize her in her blue and white costume. She loved my shoes and said that Mary Poppins should have a pair. *Giggle*

We saw Snow White doing a meet and greet, but sadly I was told that she was leaving soon and did not have time to see me. I was very sad about that. I was rather hoping to meet Snow White... I wanted to hear her voice. *Smile*

Downtown Disney
Once we got to the other side of the world we headed over to Downtown Disney for some food. Where we quickly learned that if you do not book a reservation at least a day in advance, there is a good chance you will not be able to eat... We were turned down just about everywhere. We went to the World of Disney store (Which is huge) and I bought a Snow White hair bow, a piece for my tea set featuring Alice in Wonderland and some Alice in Wonderland tea. Dave bought a Mickey Mouse pizza cutter.

We had to go to the Lego store because Thomas has been looking forward to that for ages. He bought a really nice Lego set that cost him a pretty penny. After which, he was broke.

Finally we managed to find a place to eat (After we were completely soaked and looked as if we had showered with our clothes on) and got to sit down for a spell. I had a roast beef and Swiss sandwich. Dave had a salad (He didn't realize that what he had ordered was in fact a salad) and Thomas had a sandwich and a cup cake.

After eating we went back to the hotel, showered and went to bed.

How was Disney World? (Day 1)

I thought I would write about my Disney adventure. I shall dedicate one post to each day. *Nod*

The Flight:
We woke up early (I at 3:30AM, Thomas and Dave at 4AM). We got dressed and drove to the airport. Thomas and I stood at the airport doors and waited for Dave to park the car. It took him more than half an hour to park and get back (Via bus). We checked our luggage and sat to wait for our plane. I listened to my iPod while we waited. We boarded the plane and were seated together. Thomas had the window seat. This was his first time flying, so he was excited.

At the airport when we landed in Atlanta, I went to do my makeup... And quickly realized I had forgotten to put it into my purse. Which meant I had to spent my entire vacation without makeup. My pictures were sure to be awful...

On the next flight we were separated (We flew from MO to GA, then from GA to FL). Dave sat quite far back, but Thomas and I were together. I let Thomas have the window seat again. Though he was far less excited this time around. We watched the Disney Vacation DVD we had been sent. To get ready for our vacation.

We landed and hurried to our pick up location. Disney picks up your luggage and delivers it to your hotel. Though it takes 3 or 4 hours to get there, so you can't access it right away. We stood in line for about 40 minutes as we waited to get on the bus and go to our hotel. There were quite a lot of people going to Disney World there.

The Hotel:
Once we arrived and checked in, we went to our room. We were staying in the Toy Story section of the All Star Movies Resort. I would have preferred the Fantasia section, but you don't really get to choose. It was nice though, since Dave really loves Toy Story, and Thomas is a Pixar fan.

The room was nice. There were two full size beds. One for Thomas and one for Dave and I to share. Sleeping in a full size bed is not easy... But I made due. There was a Toy Story border along the top of the wall, as well as a poster, framed. The linens had characters from all of the themes in All Star Movies. The soaps and shampoo bottles had Mickey Mouse on them, and the television had several Disney channels.

Lunch At The Hotel:
We ate lunch at the hotel. I had some pasta and a soda pop. As well as a Mickey Mouse shaped rice crispy treat.

Disney's Animal Kingdom:
Once we were ready we got on a bus and left for the Animal Kingdom (As it was closest to our hotel). We got in right away. There were lots of animals and so many birds! The scenery was lovely, and refreshing. It was raining a bit, but not too bad.

We looked at the animals and made our way to one of the shops. We neglected to get a map, so we were really wandering aimlessly. We shopped around for a bit. I purchased some silver Minnie Mouse ears, and Thomas bought a Mickey Mouse ears hat. When we left the shop we noticed that there was a parade going on, just outside! How terribly exciting! I have to admit that the first time I saw Mickey Mouse coming through on his float, I got all teary eyed and had to try not to cry. I'm so emotional...

After the parade we saw Lilo and Stitch around the corner, signing autographs. I didn't have a book, but I really wanted a photo. At first Dave said 'no' but he gave in and let me wait in line. Rather than taking a photo, he ended up taking a video. Lilo was really excited when she saw my nails. She wanted some just like them.

We walked some more and came to a Lion King musical performance. It was really fun to watch. After that we wanted to go to Dinoland, but it had already closed. So we went on a safari instead. We saw a lot of animals, but the vehicle moved so much, it was difficult to take photos. It was still very fun though. We caught some poachers and saved an Elephant family on our safari. *Giggle*

The tree of life was beautiful. I wish we could have gotten closer.

Thomas was getting moody as he wasn't very impressed with the park. It was just a Disney Themed zoo to him. But once he road the Expedition Everest ride, he perked back up. *Giggle* Dave went with him, and they both had a blast. I didn't ride because it seemed too scary for me. I realized while waiting for them outside the ride, that at some point my hat had snagged on something and had ripped. I removed it but even while being stored in my purse, the rip got bigger and bigger.

It was getting late and most parts of the park had already closed. We decided to eat at the Yak & Yeti restaurant. The name did not sound appealing to me, but it actually turned out to be a fantastic place. The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly, there was no wait, and the waitress (Martha) was a dear. So happy and upbeat. She really liked my nails as well. *Smile*

After dinner it was getting even more humid. I couldn't take clear photos because the camera lens kept fogging up. Thomas' glasses also fogged up which was sort of amusing.

We stopped by to look around the Rain Forest Cafe then took a bus back to our hotel to sleep.

During the Summer Camp 2009 event... I decided to give away free avatar scribbles to some of my camp mates. Nothing special... But as I lack updates here, I thought I might share a few. I hate the style I drew these in... But it was fast, and half the people there are obsessed with generic anime so it worked in multiple ways. I should start doing Disney art again... Dave is sitting at his computer and I walk up behind him and put my arms around him. My hands on his tummy, my head near his... Dave grabs my hands and moves them up.
ME: Why did you do that?
DAVE: You were too close to my belly button.
ME: I can't reach your belly button from here. See?

I attempt to reach it, but fall short.

DAVE: That's still too close.
ME: Why don't you like me touching your belly button?
DAVE: That's just how I am, you know? It's like, it's there, but just don't touch it.
